Marx on Monday – Obama – The Food Stamp President

Of all the maliciously libellous charges laid at the feet of our great President Barack Hussein Obama II, surely the most iniquitous is the claim by right wing idiot Newt Gingrich that Obama will go down in history as the “food stamp president.”

This ridiculous myth was given credence recently by the outrageous claims of the evil Texas Republican Louie Gohmert – who claimed that people on food stamps were spending them on luxury items. To illustrate his point he recounted the following conversation he had with one of his constituents –

“I love crab legs. You know, the big king crab legs. I love those. But we haven’t been able to have them in our house in who knows when. But I’m standing behind a guy, he has those in his bag, and I’m looking longingly like, ‘When can I ever make enough where our family can get something like that?’ and then I see the food stamp card pulled out.”

And what, may I ask of Gingrich, Gohmert and his constituent, has it got to do with them?

People on food stamps deserve them – they have a right to them – and if they choose to spend them on luxuries like king crab legs to brighten up their otherwise drab lives what business is it of those people who pay the taxes which provide the food stamps?

Let me tell you, my wife and I are on food stamps, and life is not the bed of roses Gohmert would have you believe it is. We both have to go short so that our seven children can eat healthy and delicious fast food to supplement their free school meals. My wife, Sharon, and I – like most people on welfare – never eat breakfast (mind you – that’s because we don’t get up until noon.) When she finally gets out of bed Sharon is ravenously hungry but she knows that her monstrous appetite will play second fiddle to our children. She’s a big girl – weighing in at 250 pounds – but she’s such a good and conscientious mother that to make sure our children get a proper McDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken supper she will often miss up to eight meals a day!

These heartbreaking stories of real people on welfare are ignored by evil men like Gohmert, and he uses food stamps unfairly as a stick to beat President Obama with. But look at the facts – food stamps were introduced by FDR in 1939 and helped feed 20 million people a year at a cost to the taxpayer of $262 million a year.

The programme was expanded by JFK in 1961 and then again by LBJ in 1964. LBJ set up food stamps as a permanent welfare benefit to poor people but promised on behalf of the Democratic Party that it would be limited to the 1 million poorest people and would never cost the American taxpayer more than the colossal sum of $360 million a year.
Its fourth major increase came under Obama – entirely a coincidence that all four increases came under a Democratic President – and the annual food stamp bill is now, admittedly, slightly over the maximum of $360 million a year promised by LBJ. In 2012 food stamps cost the American taxpayer around $73 billion – around 200 times the LBJ promised maximum and approximately 5% of America’s GNP. And they were paid out to around 46 million people – slightly more than the one million envisaged by Johnson.

But, to be fair to Obama, food stamp spending had already increased since 1964 and when he came to office, even under George Bush II, it had increased to around $25 billion and was paid out to around 17 million people. So the increase in spending on food stamps under Obama is a relatively modest $50 billion a year.

But let’s be fair to Obama – thanks to his handling of the US economy – there are lots more poor people in need of welfare: around 30 million of them to be precise.

And these people are the deserving poor! What would they do without welfare benefits and food stamps?

Take the case of Zubeidat Tsarnaev. She came to the USA, a refugee from Chechnya, and initially qualified and worked as a beautician. But after her conversion to radical Islam she could no longer do her job – beautifying women – as it was against her religious principles; so she had to claim welfare and stay at home writing essays on how 9-11 was a joint FBI/Jewish conspiracy to make Americans hate Islam. And even though she claimed maximum welfare benefits – around $10,000 a year for ten years whilst she raised her 2 children, it still wasn’t enough, and she was reduced to shoplifting to improve her family’s quality of life. Poor Zubeidat was arrested on June 13, 2012 and charged with larceny of women’s clothing valued at $1,500.

And what about her son Tamerlan Tsarnaev? The 26 year Chechnyan refugee also received around $100,000 in welfare up until 2012, including cash, food stamps and housing assistance, for him, his wife and his infant son. And since he was shot dead by the police in a gun fight after blowing up the Boston Marathon and killing 3 innocent people, as well as seriously injuring 264 others (all of whose taxes went towards paying the enormous sums of welfare given to him and his mother,) his widow and son are more in need than ever of charity from the American taxpayer. It is estimated that the American taxpayer, many of whom were injured or lost loved ones in the Boston Marathon bombings, will need to pay around $200,000 in welfare for Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s son until he graduates.

Some cynics argue that if you take all of the tax paid by Krystie Campbell, one of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s victims, and all of the tax paid ever, by her entire lineage, it still wouldn’t have been as much as the amount of welfare paid to Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his family since they arrived as refugees from Chechnya ten years ago.

But these cynics would be missing the point. Even the widow and child of the Boston bomber deserve food stamps from the American taxpayer – including from the families of those he killed – and the total cost of food aid, a relatively modest $73 billion last year, only amounts to a tiny cost of $730 a year each to America’s taxpayers.

So, out of touch and evil people, like Gingrich and Gohmert should shut their mouths. If food aid is cut, people like the Boston bomber’s mother, widow and child could starve to death without the $250,000 in food aid they will end up being paid (out of total welfare benefits to be paid to them of $500,000) – does the American taxpayer really want to see that happen?

More unmissable stuff from Kevin Marx. The USSA is being eaten by a cancer from within; just like the sinking ship Britannia.

No one has the RIGHT to free anything…we who work and pay taxes what do WE get for free! Did you ever hear the saying:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. That is what is needed now,JOBS! Remember the worker welfare program!?

It’s genuinely very complex in this busy life to listen news on Television, therefore I just use world wide web for that reason, and take the most up-to-date information.
